MACHINE TYPE:

Universal testing instrument for tensile and compression resistance for testing micromachine components, membranes, fabrics, tablets, and other biomaterials.

APPLICATION SECTOR:

Testing laboratories, used to perform tensile and compression tests on a wide range of materials.

FEATURES:

The testing system operates based on the principle of closed-loop servo control. Control can be based on the crosshead position, load, or deformation. Using the crosshead position as an example, when a test begins, the computer sends a start command to the controller, which in turn sends a command signal to a servo amplifier requesting a specific crosshead position. The servo amplifier receives a feedback signal of the current crosshead position from an encoder driven by the frame’s transmission system. The servo amplifier compares the command signal and the feedback signal, and if there is a difference between the two, it generates an error signal that causes the motor to move the crosshead at the speed and direction that reduces the error. The electromechanical load frame from Instron is designed to apply a load to a specimen via a moving crosshead. The transmission system moves the crosshead upward to apply a tensile load on the specimen or downward to apply a compressive load on the specimen. A load transducer (load cell), mounted in series with respect to the specimen, measures the applied load. The load cell converts the load into an electrical signal that is measured and displayed by the control system. Load cells are interchangeable with others of different capacities, providing a range of load measurement possibilities limited only by the maximum capacity of the load frame. It is also possible to use strain transducers (extensometers) to measure deformation.
