Description
MACHINE TYPE:
Tail-Flick, brand Ugo Basile, model Unit DS 20.
APPLICATION SECTOR:
Pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic, food, dietary, medical devices, manufacturing.
FEATURES:
The Ugo Basile Tail Flick has been designed to accurately measure the nociceptive threshold of infrared thermal stimulus on the tail of the mouse or rat. The operator initiates the stimulus: when the animal feels pain and flicks its tail, a sensor detects it, stops the timer, and turns off the light. The animal’s reaction time is thus automatically determined and recorded. The Tail Flick essentially consists of an IR source, whose adjustable intensity radiant energy is focused on the animal’s tail by an embedded parabolic mirror. The mouse is held by the operator on the unobstructed upper panel of the instrument such that its tail, placed over a level-mounted window, receives the IR energy. The instrument can be conveniently used to stimulate the mouse’s tail.
