FEATURES:
The 2408 can be configured with two, four, five, or six particle size ranges and an integrated printer (standard configuration). It meets the requirements for an automatic particle counter using light scattering as described in the Japanese industrial standard JIS B9921. A microprocessor controls all functions of the instrument. A typical counter, for example, might have a sensitivity of 0.5 microns and six particle size ranges (0.5, 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 microns). The counter uses a laser diode light source and collection optics for particle detection. The particles scatter light from the laser diode. The collection optics focus the light onto a photodiode that converts the light bursts into electrical pulses. The height of the pulse is proportional to the particle size. The pulses are counted, and their amplitude is measured for particle sizing. The results are displayed as particle counts in the specified size range.
