Gas Chromatograph
APPLICATION SECTOR:
Laboratory, Chemical, Environmental, Biological
FEATURES:
The Hewlett Packard HP 6890 Series gas chromatograph is an advanced chemical analysis tool used to separate and identify individual components of a complex mixture. Its operation is based on the interaction of a vapor sample with a stationary phase contained within a column. The sample is injected into the system and transported through the column by a continuous flow of carrier gas (the mobile phase). Due to their different physical and chemical properties, the various components of the mixture move at different speeds, selectively interacting with the stationary phase. This process causes each component to exit the column at a distinct moment, known as retention time. When the components leave the column, they are electronically detected and identified, allowing for precise analysis of the sample composition. Temperature and flow rate of the carrier gas are crucial parameters that can be adjusted to optimize separation and the order of component exit.
