Description
DESCRIPTION:
The 7400 Activity Cage has been proved of great value to record spontaneous coordinate activity in rats and mice, either in individuals or groups, and variations of this activity in time, in the following types of investigation: General Toxicology, Psychopharmacology, Behavioural Sciences.
SECTORS OF USE:
Student and chemical research laboratories
MAIN FEATURES:
The cage floor is made up of stainless steel bars. The odd bars are earthed and the even bars are active. The “bridges” that the animal makes or brakes with its paws link or disconnect one more of the active bars with earth, thereby producing random configurations which change as the animal moves. These changes in configuration are converted into pulses. An electronic counter sums up the pulses and prints the results at pre-set intervals. The Perspex cage is designed for up to 2 rats or 3-4 mice. It has a transparent lid to allow the animals to be observed. It is equipped with an impact printer and a 4-digit display with a solid state timer. The recordings are made in digital from at pre-set intervals. In group studies, social behaviour can be assessed, and changes in this behaviour induced by drugs can be evaluated.
